About

I come from a long tradition of women on both sides of my family who could cook. My grandmothers had different influences–one hailed from the “hollers” of Kentucky and the other was an Iowa farm girl. These women spoiled our family with their cooking and we probably didn’t realize it or appreciate it enough when they were alive and doing it. This blog is dedicated to my grandmothers Virginia and Ruth…they loved us with their food and oh the food! When I bite into the perfectly crispy skin of a piece of Mimi’s fried chicken, or take the first tip of the pie bite of Grandma Ruth’s derby pie, I am instantly transported to the kitchens of my childhood. Food is love and it’s how I love my family and friends and I hope you feel the spirit of that in these posts. Thanks for reading! –Ronnie
